James DeGale MBE
James is the IBF Super-Middleweight World Champion, having defeated American challenger Andre Dirrell in Boston on 23rd May 2015.
His victory marked a moment in history, as he became the first British fighter to win Olympic gold and go on to become a bona-fide professional world champion.
Since turning to professional boxing, James has progressed on a rapid trajectory, becoming British Super-Middleweight Champion within 9 fights, and within 12 was crowned European Super-Middleweight Champion. He can also include a WBC Silver Belt among his array of titles.
The spotlight began to shine on the young athlete from Harlesden after his success at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, where he returned home a gold medal holder, an achievement that resulted in him proudly being awarded an MBE.
James’ success proved to be a defining moment for his future career, not just in terms of exposure, but as a person and his approach to boxing. While in Beijing, he was privileged enough to benefit from one-to-one mentoring from the England Training Coaches, teaching him the importance of meticulous preparation and lifestyle dedication.
