Janie Dee is one of Britain's most celebrated actresses and most recently performed on Broadway playing the title role in LINDA, and as Phyllis Stone in FOLLIES for which she has been nominated for a Laurence Olivier, Evening Standard and a What's On Stage Award for best actress in a musical.
Janie most recently played Cleopatra in Antony & Cleopatra & Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing for SHAKESPEARE AT THE BOWL at the Hollywood Bowl and then the Barbican Theatre with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Other recent credits include Marjorie in HAND TO GOD at the Vaudeville Theatre, and Irina in THE SEAGULL at Open Air, Regent's Park following AH, WILDERNESS! at the Young Vic - for which she received rave reviews from the national critics for both.
Janie is the winner of multiple Olivier, Evening Standard, Critics' Circle, Obie, Theatre World Best Newcomer and TMA Theatre Awards and has had long associations with Alan Ayckbourn, Harold Pinter and Sir Peter Hall.
On screen she has played opposite Colin Firth in Harold Pinter's CELEBRATION on Channel 4, opposite Martin Shaw in P. D. James' DEATH IN HOLY ORDERS and THE MURDER ROOM and as Zac Efron’s mother, Mrs Samuels in ME AND ORSON WELLES.
She was most recently Olivier Award nominated for NSFW at the Royal Court, and NOISES OFF at the Old Vic, and starred in BLITHE SPIRIT opposite Angela Lansbury.
She has also just completed filming CRASHING for E4 with Adrian Scarborough. She next stars in the world premiere of MONOGAMY by Torben Betts.
