Kate Halfpenny is a celebrity stylist, esteemed fashion designer and founder of British luxury bridalwear brand, Halfpenny London. For over a decade, she has been styling editorial, TV commercials and celebrities, and is on speed dial for countless personalities for all things fashion. Renowned for her friendly and welcoming demeanour, perfectly balanced with expert professionalism and extensive experience, Kate can certainly hold her own when talking about her favourite subjects.
Kate graduated with a BA Honours degree in Fashion Design in the late ‘90s followed by a Masters from London’s prestigious Central St Martins. Before founding Halfpenny London, Kate worked at the centre of London’s fashion industry for Vivienne Westwood and then moved into costume design for the ground-breaking art directors The New Renaissance. During this time Kate started carving herself a career as a freelance stylist and soon began creating dresses for her celebrity clients and styling some of the worlds most iconic stars like George Michael and Rihanna, to British icons Erin O’Connor and Kate Moss. Then, in 2005 actress Emilia Fox wore one of Kate’s intricate silk floral creations on her wedding day. Kate was inundated with requests and following a subsequent Vogue interview, she founded her eponymous wedding dress brand.
Now one of the UK’s leading Luxury British made bridal brands, Halfpenny London weaves Brit cool with a luxe sensibility. Her exquisite and highly distinctive pieces transcend the world of bridal and have become coveted by the fashion elite with impeccable red carpet style, such as Liv Tyler, Kate Moss, Holly Willoughby, Millie Mackintosh and Daisy Lowe, with an exclusive collection launch in 2017 to the Luxury online retailer Net-A-Porter.
Kate’s expert knowledge, exquisite designs and infectious personality have gained her a huge social media following and she continues to work with her A-list clientele from the Halfpenny London atelier in Bloomsbury.
Appearing on TV as both fashion presenter and stylist, Kate has worked alongside Mary Portas on Mary Queen of Shops, Lorraine, Chic Fix for Sky and she reported live on the Royal Weddings on BBC America during Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, then appeared live ITV’s coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day.
Kate has worked on big Campaigns for super brands like L’Oreal, Marks & Spencer, Pepsi, Rimmel, Playstation, Honda, Moschino and Hugo Boss to name but a few and has won two British Arrow TV Craft Awards for her styling and costume design.
