Melvin Odoom now hosts the Radio 1 Late Evening Show alongside his long-term colleagues Rickie Haywood-Williams and Charlie Hedges every Monday to Thursday between 9pm-11pm. This comes after a dominant 10 year stretch as the hosts of the award-winning KISS Breakfast Show. Their on-air chemistry and entertaining mockery was a hit with the KISS audience and they continued to become the UK's biggest breakfast show. They won Silver at The Sony Radio Awards in 2009 and Gold in 2012 within the most prestigious category, The Breakfast Show Award.
In 2017 Melvin hosted brand new TV shows, 'My Hotter Half' for E4 and the fiercely popular 'Lego Masters' on Channel 4 which both returned in 2018 for a second series. In 2018 Melvin was also the voice of brand-new ITV clip show Japandemonium. Following on from his successes, 2019 started off with a bang as Melvin and his co-hosts presented the Special Comic Relief YouTube Show.
In 2016, Melvin hosted 'Robbie Williams rocks Big Ben'live for BBC1 and celebrated winning the Strictly Christmas Special after competing in the 2016 series.
He also presented The Brits Red Carpet and After Party again for ITV2 alongside Rickie Haywood-Williams, having presented it together 2015, along with the Mobo Awards Live for ITV. 2016 was also the year that ITV gave the duo their first prime-time Saturday night gameshow 'Bang On The Money'.
2015 Melvin hosted 'The Xtra Factor' alongside Rochelle Humes for ITV2 whilst continuing to Captain the comedy panel show for BBC3’s Sweat the Small Stuff. (4 series from 2013-2015)
Melvin has always had a passion for new music and presented a show for Channel 4/4Music called 'Intros'. Early mornings are not alien to Melvin — as a staple for the CBBC audience, Melvin was presenting Swap Shop with Basil Brush in 2008 on Saturday mornings, alongside his days of playing various characters for the long running and BAFTA award winning 'Dick and Dom in the Bungalow'. In fact, CBBC’s spin off show 'Slammer', which also won a BAFTA in 2007, would not have been complete without Melvin’s theatrical talents as a desperate inmate trying to escape.
After meeting each other at university, together Rickie and Melvin were known for their work on MTV Digs broadcast on MTV One, Monday to Saturday and MTV Music Junkie — a live studio music show - and for hosting Pop Up Pop Quiz across 4Music and T4 on Channel 4.
Rickie and Melvin are Price's Trust Ambassadors and work very closely with Rays of Sunshine, a charity who grants wishes for children with serious or life-limiting illnesses between the ages of 3-18, across the United Kingdom.
Melvin also ran the London Marathon in 2012 for Team PB The Prostate Cancer and Breast Cancer Charity. He ran with the Olympic Flame in Hackney East London and Rickie and Melvin were also lucky to host Women’s Basketball for The London 2012 Olympics.
